Firearms Safety Courses

The first part of the course deals with the Weapons Licencing Act and it is important you don’t miss it so please give yourself time to get out there 10 minutes before it starts.

Firearm Safety Courses are conducted frequently at the TMRC clubhouse for Category A and B weapons (category H is available on request). The courses are run on a weekend (typically on a Saturday) and take 4 to 5 hours depending on the number of participants.

The cost of the course is $130 per person ($95 extra for Category H). There is no EFTPOS facility at the range so please pay Bob by cash or cheque on the day. You will need to bring some form of photo ID with you as well as a notebook and pen. Wear sensible clothing, hat or cap and closed-in shoes such as sports joggers (no singlets or thongs) and your water bottle.

The Hervey’s Range Shooting Complex is located on Hervey’s Range Road (at the foot at the range) approximately 22klms from the Kalynda Chase/Hervey’s Range Road intersection and is on the left hand side of the road. The Hervey’s Range Shooting Complex is 1km past the entrance of the new SSAA complex so please ensure you go to the correct entrance. There will be a red flag flying at the gate which is a little bit off the road but you will be able to see the long range shooting complex from the road.

Additional Information

Course participants need to have a USI (Unique Student Identifier) number. If you already have one from any previous study you have done please bring it with you. If not, you will be given a form to complete which will allow Queensland Rifle Association (QRA) to apply for one for you.
